A story of great intuition
Almost 90 years of history represent not just a wealth of experience, but also an invitation to constantly look for the best version of what the company does: the history of Bonaldo is marked by continuous successes, each of which indicates a new production path.
Where it all started
This was when the blacksmith Giovanni Vittorio Bonaldo was in his prime, learning how to make things out of metal. In doing so he developed a remarkable manual ability and considerable knowledge of techniques and materials, know-how which represents the starting point for the company's history.
Beds and metal processing
The initial phase of the industrial activity in which the company was dedicated to the production of iron bedsteads, meshes and mattresses. These allowed the company to develop a wealth of knowledge and operating methods that went on to be decisive in establishing its success.
The first time at Salone del Mobile
An important debut presenting the first collection of folding beds and bases. Demand connected to lifestyles was changing and Bonaldo understood and appreciated this. The important transition from an artisanal to an industrially based activity really started here.
Styling S.r.l. foundation
The company introduced a new concept of sofa bed, which became a piece of furniture in its own right and not just an emergency solution.
Bonaldo S.p.A. foundation
An important step: the birth of the company as we know it today.
International recognition in the world of design
The Più folding chair, designed by Chiaramonte and Marin, won the Young & Design Award. An innovative folding chair dedicated to a concept of hospitality and practicality of use, interpreted through the originality of the shape.
Bonaldo S.p.A: a single company
The Group’s three main divisions - Bonaldo, Styling S.r.l. and Led & Co. S.r.l. - merge into a single company, Bonaldo SpA.
Partnerships with leading international designers
The Poly chair by Karim Rashid won the Best Design 2007, the Good Design Award 2008 and the Red Dot Award 2008.
Big Table: Bonaldo icon
Bonaldo and Alain Gilles gave life to a nonconformist idea, a bold project for a product destined to make history: the Big Table. The original base was made up of four laser-cut steel legs that intersect and overlap, creating an image with a striking graphic component in a dynamic interplay of balance, the perception of which changes according to the observer's point of view.
Bonaldo Showroom
Based on a project by Mauro Lipparini with 6,000 m 2 of display space, Bonaldo inaugurated the company showroom in Padua for which it received the Good Design Award. It was an evocative and exciting place where it was possible to admire the Bonaldo collections, from icons of the past to brand new products. The showroom became a representative and functional space for Bonaldo as it was both an exhibition site and a place for company presentations and workshops.
80 years of history
To mark this important milestone, a celebratory product was presented, the Mass Table designed by Alain Gilles, which perfectly summarized Bonaldo’s corporate values.
Lighting Collection
Production of the new collection of lamps was an expression of the solid link between Bonaldo and its region of origin, the Veneto. This area has well-established traditions and skills in the field of lighting and is a point of reference for the deployment of the raw materials used in this sector, such as the blown glass typical of the Venice area.
International expansion
Foreign markets played an increasingly important role for Bonaldo; the presence of Flagship Stores, Spaces, Studios and other points of sale all over the world demonstrated both the appreciation of a vastly different target public and Bonaldo's ability to identify and satisfy different lifestyle needs. The contract channel joined the retail channel in later years, with increasing success.
The birth and development of B/Style
The company presented a new furnishing idea known simply as B/Style. This intuition led to presenting and promoting products related to each other in a harmonious and constant dialogue that gives light to environments which are undeniably flag bearers of the Bonaldo style, no matter where in the world they may be.
